Akeelah and the Bee is a fantastic movie for the entire family. The story centers around young Akeelah, an eleven-year-old African American who is brilliant in spelling bee competitions, despite negotiating a difficult home and neighborhood environment and less than spectacular school. It is an inspiring and uplifting film suitable for children and the entire family and another example of words make people.
