For those with analog TV's, even though the federal government's DTV Transition is now complete, your analog TV set is not obsolete. To ensure continued use of your analog set, you must use a digital-to-analog converter box or connect to a subscription service, such as cable or satellite TV. It allows analog TVs to display local digital broadcasts so you can enjoy all your favorite shows.

Analog TVs do need a digital-to-analog converter box to receive over-the-air television broadcasts, now that the DTV Transition is completed. Analog TVs equipped with a converter box will display the digital broadcasts in excellent, but not in full digital quality. A converter box, much like your cable box, will allow you to receive a picture, but it won't be able to deliver high-definition programming or give you access to other digital services.
